Odd Grapes and Fruit or Vegetable wine.

Hi, this probably sounds lame, but my Father-In-Law has a vine that's been growing here in Birmingham, UK since before the climate became kinder. It is very hardy and regardless of treatment, only seems to grow small (the size of a medium large blueberry/black currant) dark purple grapes with big pips in them. The harvest was pitifully small this year, though they are fairly sweet - only 2lbs roughly of grapes including stalks...

I was wondering if anyone knew of any fruit and grape or vegetable and grape recipes I could use these few in, preferrably one where the grapes are fermented mashed - for the sake of ease. I know it's a tiny little haul, but it would be a shame to let them go to waste.

Many thanks for any ideas offered (apart from - throw them in the dumpster ;) )

Jim I'm not familiar with those grapes since I live here in the states. If it were me, I would do one or two things - I would consider adding some type of

100% frozen grape juice/concentrate (Welch's is preferable-2 cans) to the grapes to ferment with. Or I would find another fruit to ferment with it and or add something to increase the body of the wine like 1 can of frozen grape juice, some bananas, or some raisons. Its an experiment which I always like to try - only do a 1 gallon batch so you don't get a lot of something you may not like. Darlene

Thanks Darlene :)

You know I had thought about combining them with lots of fruit, but not with grape juice(!) I'm very newb...

Yeah I think I'll do that while they are still fresh.

Cheers for the ideas, Jim
