I'm trying to find out what these berries are called. They are hollow

Dunno for sure what it is, but the OP is right, it's unquestionably *not* a serviceberry. Serviceberries look like blueberries, and don't even remotely resemble raspberries. They're not hollow, either. They grow on trees, not on stalks or canes, and the branches have no thorns.

On top of that, it's the wrong time of year for them. Another name for the serviceberry is Juneberry -- because they come ripe in very early June.

Regards, Doug -- who has four gallons of serviceberry wine bulk aging right now. Picked the berries over a period of several days between June 3 and 7.

Are the berries red to deep maroon when ripe? Do the stalks have red fine prickers and a few big ones? And are the stalk and berries sticky alittle? If yes to these questions, they are Japanese Raspberries. I have a row of them..They have another name but i forgot it. Hope this helps.
