Hi....yes I would agree..also known as Birds Eye Rot..I've had this before ...even this year on a few bunches, although it doesn't seem to be progressing on my vines after hitting them with a captan formulation and then Benomyl....andy j.

Jeff, I have noticed the same thing on a very few of my berries. In looking at the "Midwest Small Fruit Pest Management Handbook" published by the Ohio State University Extension I found a picture on page 128 that looks exactly like what you show and what I have observed. The source of the problem is Powdery Mildew. It is interesting that I have not observed the PM on the leaves - just a few berries. Other growers in the area are experiencing a LOT of problems with Powdery Mildew this year. Hope this helps.

Paul,

how strange, I am not getting it on the leaves eather. I thought maybe i wasn't getting it at all this year due to extreme heat, etc. this is the first time I've seen no PM on leaves. if you hear of anything else, let me know.

thanks

Jeff

Jeff, I know it is real weird. Another commercial grower less than 10 miles from me is experiencing the very same thing - split berries that look a lot like powdery mildew but no infection on the leaves. Other growers nearby are experiencing powdery on BOTH leaves and berries. I have started spraying with Tenncop which is a copper base fungicide and supposedly is good for both powdery and downy. This has been a good year up to now but now I have doubts about the future of the harvest. BTW - I live in Central Maryland.

Here is another link showing pictures of the major grape diseases. Note the picture for Powdery and the split berries.

Paul,

I did some browsing and found the following site re: PM. You may have seen it yourself already in your research, but here is the link:

There's a few photos with it as well, similar to what I'm experiencing and the link photos you posted.
