My wine club (Greater Kansas City Cellarmasters) sponsors and conducts an amateur wine contest every November. Some details are given below. The purpose of our contest is not just to pass out ribbons. We try to give meaningful feedback about the wines we judge. We don't judge wines according to "I really like this wine...I'll give it a good score". Instead table captains are experienced with the wines their crew judges and the wines are judged according to what they are supposed to taste like. If you live in the Kansas City area plan on attending our awards banquet. We serve all the wines that are entered in the contest that night with dinner. It's a great party.
