Thanks to all those who gave suggestinos to Lyon. A good time was had by all.
We tried Le Palais de la Bière and found it to be very expensive - extortionately to be frank. 2Ltr of beer and a small bowl of chips came to
28 euros! Nice atmosphere though and nice knoweldgeable staff - even if they tried to convince us that blonde beers had heavy flavours! Some do, some dont. By the way, they had upwards of 100 different beers to try with about
8 on draught.
Also tried the the Chantecler - as in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. They had five ales available, all brewed on site which were lovely, including the bier des saison which was a honey beer. The food, though not extensive was well presented and there was a lot of it.
The other place we tried was Ninkasi by the football stadium. Felt more like a students union that a brewpub, but the range of ales on offer - 6 - was good and their German style lager was roundly enjoyed by all. They also now have three smaller cafes serving the beers in the centre of Lyon for those who cant or dont want to make it out that far. I have the addresses if anyone is interested.
Thanks once again.
