real ale in basel

Basel also has ueli beer from a mircro brewery in the Gundeli area at the back of the SBB railway staion, . The best english beer I have come across is bottled Spifire and Bishops Finger from Fenwicks Feincost at 3.95 500ml. I dont know what the recently opened "beers of the world shop" in the SBB has to offer.

Ueli-Bier is the brand used by Fischerstube, in the historical centre... You probably mean Unser Bier :

more or less the same than those in Lucerne, Berne and Zurich. The produce list is on their website, showing which shop stocks what (BS is for Basel, obviously) :

Not necessarily. The Fischerstube has a couple of other outlets for its Ueli beers. The Stainlemer bar behind the Steinenvorstadt is one, there's another near Claraplatz in Kleinbasel, and one in Riehen. I don't know about the Gundeli, but it wouldn't surprise me if there was an outlet there too.

Unser Bier is available in the bar (Fumare / Non-Fumare) which used to be a bank, opposite the main post office in the city centre. I haven't seen it on draught anywhere else.

Cheers

Mike
