Best Goose Island Location

Dec 23, 2004 5 Replies

I am going to be in Chicago next week. I plan on going to one of the Goose Island Brewpubs. Is one location better than the other? Wrigleyville is closer to my hotel but I could hit Clyborn on the way out to relatives the next day. Would do both but can't talk my wife into that. Thanks in advance for your help...

The one on Cyborn is the original location and is near the brewery. They conduct tours at 3pm every Sunday. It's near another Chicago institution, Sam's Liquors.

The Clybourne location is better.

I prefer the Clybourn location. I can't exactly pin my finger on why. I used to live within walking distance of the Wrigleyville pub, but still ended up more frequently at Clybourn. But neither one remotely sucks.

Agreed, Do make a stop at Sams. They have a vast selection of wines/liquours, and also a cheese deli in back. Mark

Oh, definitely go with Clybourn, the Mother Church of Goosedom. Last time I was at the Clark Street GI (May 2003), they had exactly one tap which they claimed was brewed on-premises, plus a number of others vanned up from Clybourn.

Goose Island at Clark and Addison might be a wonderful place to watch a Cubs game. For beer interest, go to the Real Thing.
