My local neighborhood copy of "The Economist" tells me that the UN has designated 2008 "The international year of the Potato" (I noticed it was not spelled p-o-t-a-t-o-e....) I herewith offer my favorite potato/wine recipe/pairing in celebration, and invite reciprocity.
Quarter lengthwise red skinned new potatoes and coat with olive oil. Season evenly with salt, pepper, thyme, oregano, and dried granulated garlic. Roast in a 350 deg (f) oven for 20-25 minutes, turning once or twice to get a little nice color. Open a refreshing bottle of Pinot Blanc (I like Elk Cove from Oregon) and enjoy your favorite music/sports tv/chick flic/ or whatever...
