Hey, Luca, it is almost easier for me to drop into the Perrin brothers' in Chateauneuf and pick some up there... but I will try in LA., if someone has some suggestions for a wine store... I will be there Sunday
So let's pair it with some of Arena's corsican Vermentino, and 6 or so Ligurian ones, plus one or two from Provence. Your place or mine? Maybe we should meet in between, at Nils' place !!!

I tasted the '02 at the winery in Dec. '04. Here's what I wrote here about it:
2002 Vermentino: When I asked why they used the Italian name, I was told that "Rolle" is not permitted by BATF (or whatever) rules... A nose of floral notes, with minerals and peaches; soft entry to the palate was followed by creamy pineapple flavors and a crisp finish. I liked this wine, but Jean was put off by some of the flavors she encountered.In comparison to the few Italian Vermentinos I've tried (all industrial examples, I'm sure) it was softer and fruitier, but recognizable as the same grape.
Dale Williams also may have tried it, but he didn't post notes about it if he did.

I certainly would - unfortunately, as it seems, I won´t be down nella Costa Azurra until early June :((((((
But I´ll be in Serre Chevalier first week of February That doesn´t really help, does it? Oh well

Trivia: Mme Hoquart on Tour de Bon also calls it Vermentino. Didn?t ask her why as she was moderately irritated by our arriving 20 minutes late.

Isn't it Tour du Bon? BTW, thanks for supplying her name, Nils. I've just been referring to her as "that vigneronne from Paris." ;-)

I stand corrected. Thank you for putting me right. And, perhaps, her being from Paris rather than the Midi explains her less than lax attitude to punctuality (it would never have happened in Nice)
