A friend has suggested I try "Clos de los Siete" from Argentina by Michel Rolland. I don't always agree with his taste in wine but he seemed excited by this one.
It's not available locally yet, but a small supply should be here next week at $27 Canadian. Has anyone tried this?

CAD 27 looks a bit steep. I've seen USD 16-17 (say $19 CAD) on the web, tho' I've not yet seen it in stores.

Hi Myron,
In BC it sells for about $25 Cdn (which is surprising given that we are usually considerably higher priced than elsewhere in Canada). I haven't had it in a couple of years, but as I recall it was a good wine, worth the price, but not distinctive enough for me to put any away. It isn't a special release here and is usually available.
Now that your reminded me, I might pick some up this week and give it a try again! Tim

Interestingly, the Clos de los Siete ( 2004 ) was listed ( together with Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir 2004; Cloudy Bay Sauvignon balnc 2005; Nyetimber Premier Cuvee 1999; and Laurenz V. 'Charming' Gruner Veltliner 2005 ) by UK wine correspondent Jonathan Ray ( Daily Telegraph 25 May ) as a world beater. His article followed on from the recent blind tastings of Bordeaux v. California. This was the " Judgement of Paris Tasting 1976" re-enacted on 24 May with two teams of tasters in London & California - and he was making the point that since the 1976 tasting in Paris, which shook the French out of their complacency, many other countries have been making superb wines and that the competition would become even more worrying for the French in the next few years.
The Clos de los Siete 2994 is available in the UK at £9.99 to £10.99 ( Waitrose , Oddbins & Majestic Wine )
Tonight my pre-dinner tipple was Leasingham Magnus Riesling 2004 ( Clare Valley ) Australia. A lovley refreshing Riesling, quite the nicest New World example I have tried in a long time. ( Wine Rack UK : £ 5.33 if you buy three ! )
