Sometimes it's very very hard to resist.
Betsy's lasagne is an Emilia-Romagna style, with a bechamel type sauce rather than ricotta. I tend to be happy with lighter Sangioveses with good acidity. I saw her looking at a "green" variation with spinach lasagne (the pasta itself I mean)- do you think that would affect matching?
In any case if you're going Italian I find that I would avoid more tannic wines (Barolo, Brunello di Montalcino, Taurasi) with these type of dishes. The Barbera idea is interesting- good acidity, and lower tannins. I'd like to try the Lambrusco idea, but not much of quality is imported to US.
