Sorry, Miss Monger. I thought you are a perfect German speaker due to your deep insight in Austrian winemaking. As Anders mentioned correctly, the book is a restaurant guide listing 1200 restaurants from Austria and our Southern neighbors. There are also 130 pages on regional wines. I must admit, I don't know the book, but I can tell you the authors are highly respected. IMO Christoph Wagner is the most prominent Austrian gourmet writer, editor of numerous bestseller cookbooks. Klaus Egle has a reputation as wine journalist, publishing e.g. in the Austrian GaultMillau magazine.

The title is sort of a pun: "Wo isst Österreich" is almost identical to "Wo ist Österreich" which means "Where is Austria" - a question not many people have an answer to, I guess. Nevertheless the idea is not original. I guess the stole it from the well-known restaurant guide "Wien wie es isst" meaning "Vienna as it eats", not "Vienna as it is".

Yes, that's another source. I guess, Wagner and Egle elected a vintner of the year and this vintner is a she. You have to say "Winzerin" in German (female vintner), else you are considered a macho.
