Two apparently closed pubs

Anybody know what is going on with either of these pubs please? Both appear to have been closed for some time now:

  1. Shady Oak, Fernilee (Long Hill, Whaley Bridge - Buxton road). Former Boddingtons pub.

  1. Vale Inn, Adlington Road, Bollington, Cheshire. Free hous, with at one time a good range of beers. Windows whitewashed over, but it looks as though the place is being ripped apart. Another loss to a private dwelling?

I passed the Shady Oak a couple of months ago and must say it looked fairly shut then. The kind of unremarkable roadside pub with few nearby houses that, in an era when people are less and less willing to drink *anything* when driving, probably has little future.

The Vale in Bollington had been closed for a number of years but reopened last year. "Opening Times" reported recently that it had closed again due to disappointing trade. To be honest, Bollington probably has too many pubs for the amount of trade on offer.

I'd be surprised to see either reopen, but you never know.
