Walsall - pub accomodation?

Aug 23, 2012 3 Replies

I'll be in Walsall in a few weeks. I've been trawling through some hotel sites but most of the time it's the usual story -- naff furniture, staff in silly waistcoats, wallpaper from the set of Abigail's Party, international industrial lager in the bar.

So I was wondering if anyone here might know of a pub or inn which does real ale and accomodation in the town. It'd be much better to sink a few pints and then only have to climb the wooden hill. We haven't got much of a budget -- c.50 quid a night -- but we might possibly extend that a bit for somewhere really nice.

I'll be doing quite long days and I don't drive, so ideally, it wouldn't be too far from the centre of Walsall.

Thanks

Cliff

How about:

It's a hotel, but it does have six cask ale lines in their bar.

It is a little above your limit for double occupancy in an en-suite budget room at £59.50.

Thanks Jamie that looks great. I think you might have found us a venue!

Great to hear it. Let me know if it's any good. As a time-waster, I work up pub crawls (generally anchored by a pub with accommodation, or a hotel with cask ale) for most of the towns and cities of Britain, in anticipation of the next time I can afford to pop across the pond. It would be nice to know if any of my picks work out.
