No smoking.

Well, last few days to go before the ban on smoking in public places in Wales and predictably the Licensed Victuallers Association in Wales are claiming some pubs haven't had enough time to adjust for the change. Tough, they've had ample time, as have the pubs in England. Just move on and get on with it.

Many forward-thinking pubs have already got the ban in place, whereas some backward pubs are thinking they need to make outside areas more smoker-friendly....this move will do no good for their business at all, and will just spoil the whole spirit of the ban, as well as turn off their customers.

Forward-thinking pubs will have rhe smoking ban in place already, and will be taking no steps at all to 'cater' for smokers.

Those smokers who are opposed to the ban have just got to grow up and realise their habit has done nothing but harm to others for several years now, when it could have been avoided. No future government will ever reverse the ban, and no sensible political party will even suggest doing so, end of story.

Hear hear. My wife and I went on Saturday to one of our (London) locals that's changed hands and is no smoking. She will not venture into a smoking pub. Good beer too(pub is Scolt Head, in N1). However, they have put one of those patio heaters in the front garden but I saw few smokers out there. Funniest thing was we suddenly heard a huge roar - and realised there was a big room at the side full of people watching the Engalnd match, which we hadn't noticed. And no one was smoking of course,

E.

Just how much time do they need to buy a few notices ready to put up before opening on 1 July?

Sadly I have yet to find one, although I do have a non-smoking pub in Putney.
