Question: Jacques Prieur?

Hello, Off to France on SUnday, and spending two days in the Beaune area. Anybody has an opinion of jacques prieur? Entries in hachette + their web site fairly oozes excellence - at a high price ... What say you all? Cheers Nils

My general impression is that their vineyard sites ooze excellence, their actual wines less so. I've had very limited experiences, but an '85 Musigny last week didn't especially impress. And '85 Musigny should be out of the ballpark.

I'd say that Hachette sums it up pretty well. The newer wines tend to follow the trend in Burgundy of riper richer wines with a luxury feel and deep flavor profile. More blackcherry and cassis than bing cherry and earth.

Bi!!

I should be clear that their rep is solid, just not maybe quite up to the level of their astounding holdings
