Question: Jacques Prieur?

My general impression is that their vineyard sites ooze excellence, their actual wines less so. I've had very limited experiences, but an '85 Musigny last week didn't especially impress. And '85 Musigny should be out of the ballpark.

No, Prieur-Lichine was a 4th growth castle bought by the (in)famous Alex Lichine, who added his name to the original - BTW, I think that should be Prieuré ...

I'd say that Hachette sums it up pretty well. The newer wines tend to follow the trend in Burgundy of riper richer wines with a luxury feel and deep flavor profile. More blackcherry and cassis than bing cherry and earth.

I should be clear that their rep is solid, just not maybe quite up to the level of their astounding holdings
