I WISH I wrote TNs where I opened Cheval Blanc- especially the '83. :)

I'm a pretty big fan of going outside the name appelations- In Bordeaux I own a lot of Cd Castillon, Fronsac, Lalandes, etc. And in Burgundy I've found fantastic values in Mercurey, Santenay, Pernard-Vergelesse, Monthelie, (especially) Savigny, and virtually every other village. I'm not especially fond of Fixin, Chorey,, or Maranges, but I've liked a few. But the ONE commune I can never remember liking a wine is St. Romain. Your note sounds typical to me. Maybe this wine DOES scream of place. :)

I'll gladly give you an A. Or a ROFL!

Cheers

PS Besides, Chrsitina is home, the reduction turned out not all that bad, and anyway, tonight we are having a Meursault, so, all in all, I'm smiling ...

It is amazing what a nice Chard and the return of a loving wife, not to mention a reduction that turned out better than expected, to brighten one's day!
