Leo, A gentle suggestion: over the years, you've posed a lot of questions here that (by and large) we've graciously discussed. So, why not return the favor and post the actual articles here rather than a link to your blog? After all, if you're looking for discussion here, it's normally accomplished by making a statement or asking a question, no?

It may sound silly, but I thought it was better usenet etiquette to post the pointer to the link instead of the article itself.

Leo, it does not matter to me if you post or post a link.
What I don't care for is the authoritarian aspect of other members telling others what to do. Even if as a gentle suggestion on that.
Not trying to stir the pot but if anyone had a problem with the post they did not have to respond or post on your link.
Understood. In the case where the article is long, how about a compromise solution of posting the first paragraph or two and a link to the article for those who want to read more?

The practice of buying wine by varietal alone is the problem. Many of the world's best wines are blends. If you think that the varietala laone is what makes the wine good, well then I have a bridge in Brooklyn I wanna sell ya...
Leo, it's generally considered good netiquette to point readers to links to copyrighted material. But in the case of the copyright holder, that doesn't apply, and the norm would be to post the article that you are looking for feedback on.
cheers,

I believe this is correct, Dale.
However, I would greatly prefer the original copyright owner to indicate that the web site or material is his/hers. In that way we clearly understand the post.

Interesting article, thanks for posting it. As with other consumer products it would be impossible to deny the existence of the value of "bragging rights" attached to an expensive bottle, as well as the value of one branded name over another. Price, percceived value and image all intertwine to create a brand. Wally Olins has made those points for decades.
(and it really doesn't matter which link you posted...the information was much more important)
