1995 Trimbach Cuvee Frederic Emile Riesling

I purchased a case of 375ml's on release and have a few left. I haven't tasted one in a few years and I opened one tonight with brat's and pork loin in kraut. Shimmering bright light gold in the glass with plenty medium bodied mouthfeel. The nose is almost pure mineral and rocks with a bit of Key lime and a faint hint of petrol. Extraordinary complexity on the palate starting with a burst of fresh squeezed lemon, Golden Delicious apple on the mid palate and finishing with a mix of wet river stones and lime. A solid "A" on the Dale scale.

Sounds great. CFE is such a consistently good - an often great- wne. Keeps me from being so sad I can't afford Clos Ste Hune!

Nobody hypes like Carolina Wine Company, but they do have some decent deals. This is beyond my budget, but better than $170 at Zachys:

Pre-Arrival. And again, very limited.

  1. '01 Trimbach Riesling Clos Ste. Hune 9.99 / 9.99 case

Tanzer says: "Pure chalky aromas of pineapple, lime, powdered stone and spring flowers. Extremely backward and brisk, with cool flavors of lime, menthol and almost metallic minerality. A wine of almost painful precision, but with strong buffering density. (This is even higher in dry extract than the 2000 example, notes Pierre.) Perfumed, slow-building finish goes on and on. This will be fascinating to revisit in a decade or so."

The Wine Spectator says: "Rich and inviting, with complex smoke, apple, peach, lemon and mineral flavors. Has great intensity on the palate and a smooth texture that melds with the vibrant structure. The finish is long and detailed."

We say you'd better jump on this one now!
