I keep reading posts from people whose ISPs are dropping Usenet. My ISP dropped it, but I learned of Giganews.com, which provides good access for about $8/month. I do not work for Giganews.

Interesting. I was with x-privat before, but had to drop it about 2 years ago (don't really remember why - it stopped being free? it crashed or was unavailable for too long?). Now I'm with eternal-september.org, which is free too, and have aioe.org as backup if september is temporarily unavailable. It works pretty well, and cleans all the spam mostly by itself, too.
